A view from our favorite spot along the Olympic Wilderness coastline in Washington State. We backpacked into this beach every summer for many years. The sketch posted on March 31st was the background for this little painting.

"A Good Read"

This little painting is from a sketch I did long ago on a trip to the ocean. The model is one of my daughters. I was interested in thick, juicy paint and loose brush strokes. A joy to paint. The sketch is below. 

"Beach Roamers"

This was part of the view from my lunch stop at Mo’s along the Oregon coast. It was windy and cool on the beach but several blocks away it was warm enough to take off your jacket and enjoy the outside tables at the cafes and coffee shops, popular spots on this day.

"Morning Walk"

This is a popular walking path in Seattle. It has skaters, joggers, walkers and bikers in almost any weather. Sun is best and I love the long shadows of early morning and late afternoon.

"Floaters"

I keep several small items on my studio desk, all are shapes I enjoy. I set these out on a sunny day and was so fascinated by seeing the float twice, I had to paint it with its twin - the reflection. The mussel shells I keep for their shape and for the colors inside. Like jewels, they are often iridescent.
