"Sand Writing"

8 x 8"
oil on panel

A view from our favorite spot along the Olympic Wilderness coastline in Washington State. We backpacked into this beach every summer for many years. The sketch posted on March 31st was the background for this little painting.

This has a real flavor of pacific Northwest atmosphere with great brushstrokes - as usual. I like seeing the pen and wash study too.

Dear Marilyn,
I am new to art blogging and have just come upon your site, which I ended up perusing from start to finish! I find your work very beautiful, especially your use of colours. I noticed your comments about concerns re how the colours appear on different monitors and all I can say is that on my monitor your colours are quite sumptuous! I especially like the palette you have used here and in the Normandy Cottage paintings, also really loved the snow scenes from 2008. Wonderful brushwork and one can really feel how you delight in painting! I was also very taken by your work on the Mikado stage elements (what a monumental project!) and the globe - exquisite! I look forward to following your future work and wish you much continued happiness in your painting. With best regards from an admirer in France, Aliaena

Alieana, Thank you for your kind words. I love the way art blogs bring us together from places near and far. I enjoy blogs from many countries - some in languages I can't even read. The words don't seem to matter when the work captures moments in the artist's experience, moments that touched the artist's heart. Then the subject matter can be almost anything.
All the best, Marilyn
